Erin Ruffino Paints a Fredonia Legacy

Timber, stone, glass, grain, cattle, and the determination of an entire community: that's what it took to build a college in early 19th-century Fredonia. Now, all of it is part of a new 43-foot, six-panel mural celebrating SUNY Fredonia's bicentennial. Created by alumna Erin Ruffino '19, it weaves together historic photographs, campus landmarks, and student traditions across nearly 200 years. Follow the smoke from a Normal School fire as it becomes music, or spot the birthday of the Blue Devil. Every panel rewards a closer look.
